David Díez | April Guest Curator

David Díez is the director of DDZ Creative Agency from which he develops his professional activity, working as an art director, scenographer, architect and photographer for different clients such as Absolut, Sybilla, Condé Nast, Vice, Multiópticas, Vogue, Seat, Xbox and Universal Records, among others.

Currently he is focused, along with his team at DDZ, on the search of pure beauty, a kind of beauty devoid of any trace of political, social or cultural content, using Photography and Geometry as their main languages.

“I don’t work within the boundaries of Architecture written with capital A. Its times are not compatible with my lack of focusing. However, I’ve tried to apply its structure, composition, process, beauty, refinement and geometry to other disciplines of nimbler times such as design, communication, scenography or painting.

For the last three years it has been photography’s tempo the one that I found myself in harmony with. I create images, of things and people. Some say that you can tell from my pictures that I am an architect.”

David Díez es el director de DDZ Creative Agency desde donde desarrolla su actividad profesional, trabajando como director artístico, escenógrafo, arquitecto y fotógrafo para diversos clientes como Absolut, Sybilla, Condé Nast, Vice, Multiópticas, Vogue, Seat, Xbox y Universal Records, entre otros.

Actualmente se dedica principalmente, junto con su equipo en DDZ, a la búsqueda de la belleza pura, desprovista que todo tipo de condicionante social o cultural, a través de la Geometría y la Fotografía.

“No practico la Arquitectura con mayúsculas, sus tiempos no son muy compatibles con mi escasa capacidad de concentración. Sin embargo, he tratado de aplicar su estructura, composición, proceso, belleza, depuración y geometría a otras disciplinas de tiempos más ágiles como el diseño, el interiorismo, la escenografía o la pintura.

Desde hace tres años son los ritmos de la fotografía con los que me encuentro más en armonía. Hago imágenes, de cosas y de personas. La gente dice que se nota en mis fotografías que soy arquitecto.”
