María Platero | Things that fall & other photographies

I am very interested in the photography of Maria Platero, and especially in her latest project, Things that Fall. The representations we see on it have something of that beauty and innocence that sometimes becomes surrealist, with a very careful staging and where balance, randomness and uncertainty become their reason for being. With this photographic series, Platero invites the viewer to be part of a game where the rules can be as arbitrary - or chaotic - as life itself. As she herself states, though we have a well-planned life, we must always keep in mind the factor of the unexpected, the chaos and the surprise, and these neat photos are a good example of the Chaos Theory. Pellets thrown into the air that are scattered in a room, a frisbie crossing a lost highway, jets of paint of intense color on top of a set of perfectly orchestrated glasses, or a Roller coaster that goes up and down, are elements that we can see in her latest works.

Me interesa mucho el trabajo fotográfico de María Platero, y especialmente su último proyecto que lleva por título Things that Fall. Los motivos que vemos en esta serie tienen algo de esa belleza e inocencia que a veces linda con lo surrealista, con una puesta en escena muy cuidada y donde el equilibrio, la aleatoriedad y la incertidumbre se convierten en su razón de ser. Con esta serie fotográfica, Platero invita al espectador a ser parte de un juego donde las reglas pueden ser tan arbitrarias -o caóticas- como la propia vida. Tal y como ella misma afirma, por mucho que tengamos un plan de vida bien trazado y planeado, siempre tenemos que tener presente el factor de lo inesperado, del caos y la sorpresa, y estas fotos de acabado pulcro y cargadas de agudeza son un buen ejemplo de la todopoderosa Teoría del Caos. Pelotas lanzadas al aire que se desparraman en una estancia, un frisbie que, como si de un ovni se tratara, se cruza en mitad de una carretera perdida, chorros de pintura de color intenso que van a parar sobre un conjunto de copas perfectamente orquestadas, o una montaña rusa que sube y baja, son elementos que podemos ver en sus últimos trabajos.
