SPAIN arts & culture presents a collective photo exhibition introducing fourteen Spanish artists that capture their visions of the urban and natural landscape beyond borders from a critical or emotional perspective.

Curated by SPAIN FRESH’s curatorial team (Javier Moreno, Ignacio Tejedor and Abraham Rivera) and produced by King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center at NYU, this exhibition affirms the presence of young Spanish photography in a global framework. The featured artists are Alfonso Almendros, Carla Andrade, Bego Antón, Salvi Danés, Ángel De La Rubia, Cristina De Middel, Ignacio Evangelista, Jorge Fuembuena, Pablo Lerma, Juan Patiño, Aleix Plademunt, Francisco Reina, Alberto Salván and Juan Zamora.

The internal narrative structure of NEW SPANISH PHOTO_Visions Beyond Borders emphasizes the visual confrontation with foreign scenes and revolves around three main categories: remote landscapes, cultural assimilation, and new political realities. This group of artists uses their mindful and curious vision to contrast new visual realities with their regular contexts.  The culture, the landscapes, the climate and the customs encountered in foreign territories are some of the themes that stimulate the photographers’ wonder towards new and unexpected perspectives. The de-contextualization generated by showcasing these images outside the borders of Spain adds a third layer of meaning with regard to the dissociation between the pictures and the country.
